Children who don’t read over the summer can lose approximately 2-3 months of reading and are at a disadvantage when they return to school in the fall. United Way Suncoast prevents the Summer Slide through Summer Care, a multi-faceted reading initiative that ensures children don’t lose the momentum they have gained during the school year.
