Campaign Coordinator Spotlight – February 2021

Campaign Coordinator Cindy McGarringle

Cindy McGarrigle might be new to her role as Campaign Coordinator at IBERIABANK, but she’s no stranger to United Way. It was as a high school student working part-time at Sears that she was first introduced to the organization. From that simple ask, a life-long relationship developed.

Her giving continued through college and as she began her marketing career at Fortune Bank/AmSouth (now Regions Bank). While at the bank, she served as Campaign Coordinator for 15+ years and she brought that experience to her latest campaign.

Though COVID-19 made things a bit more challenging, that didn’t stop Cindy and the campaign team from coming up with lots of great ideas. They kicked off the campaign with a giving back lunch. Associates had the chance to win Amazon gift cards just for going to the site to learn more about United Way and additional chances for making a donation. Those giving $500 or more received a thank you note from the market president and some nice United Way swag. And, turning lemons into lemonade, they gifted everyone with a Live United face mask. Associates received daily emails illustrating how their dollars support local nonprofits throughout the community. They exceeded goal and grew their leadership donors, no small feat in the midst of a very difficult year. Cindy attributes the success to their team approach, saying she had support from the executive level on down, a committee working diligently to get the message out, and most importantly, caring and generous associates.

When asked why she supports United Way, Cindy says, “A United Way saying from years ago has always stuck with me; easiest way to help those in need. I know when I give to the United Way or encourage others to give to the United Way our donation is being utilized efficiently and is making an impact in the lives of those that need it most.” In addition to donating and serving as a Campaign Coordinator, Cindy has given back by volunteering for Day of Caring and recently helped run a toy drive at the bank over the holidays that provided educational toys and books for children from low-income families.

She is appreciative of United Way’s work to increase the financial stability of everyone in the community as it closely aligns with the philosophy of the banking community to educate and teach individuals about financial matters. After years of supporting United Way, Cindy wants others to know that, “Giving to the United Way is a very efficient way to give back to the community when you might not have time to manage a giving opportunity on your own… let UW manage your giving and know that your gift is making a huge difference in our community.”

Thank you, Cindy, for your dedication to supporting United Way Suncoast and our community.

United We Rise. United We Win.
