Slow, Flow and Glow – a Recipe for Mental and Physical Health

Young Leaders’ Society recently hosted Slow, Flow and Glow, a virtual wellness event focusing on personal health.

Together, we explored the realities that ALICE families face, including challenges like food insecurity and financial instability, while learning healthy coping strategies for our own stress reduction, such as mindfulness practices. We also enjoyed a chair yoga session.

As community leaders and advocates, we practiced what we preach and took the time to fill our own cups to be able to better serve others.

“With the high-stress atmosphere most of us have been living in these past few months, it was so wonderful to feel empowered by increasing our own personal health” shared Megan Gerken, a member of the YLS Steering Committee when reflecting on the program.

This event raised funds benefitting United Way Suncoast’s work in partnership with our sponsors:

    • Serene Hasan, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor (LMHC) with Serene Therapy
    • Megan Gerken, a yoga instructor with Calidora Living, LLC
    • FitLife Foods provided wellness tips and donated over 50 meals to residents of the Clearwater Resource Center and event attendees

If you were unable to attend the event, or just want to see it again, catch the replay

Thank you for being a part of YLS.
