2nd Annual UnitedOCR Race to take Place February 3, 2018 at Celery Fields

SARASOTA, FL – Join United Way Suncoast for their 2nd Annual Obstacle Course Race fundraiser- United OCR. UnitedOCR will take place February 3, 2018 at the Celery Fields located at 6893 Palmer Blvd. in Sarasota. This roughly 3-mile course will test participants with 15+ fun and challenging obstacles including wall climbs, low crawls, hurtles and much more.

Teams and individuals are encouraged to register soon to reserve their preferred time/wave. (Participants must be at least 14 years old with signed waiver by guardian/parent.)

All participants will receive an event t-shirt, race bag and commemorative finisher’s medal. Prizes will be awarded for Overall Male and Female and Overall Male and Female Masters (40+).

“Our goal is not only to create a fun and engaging event for our community, but use the race as a way to bring awareness to the obstacles so many people in our community face and how, with your help, United Way Suncoast is providing tools and support to help them achieve and overcome, “said Mireya Eavey, Sarasota area president for United Way Suncoast. “We also need plenty of volunteers for race day so there are many ways to participate if running the race isn’t for you.”

Proceeds help fund United Way programs and services right here in the Sarasota area to continue to fight for the education and financial stability of every person in our community. Programs like the new career training program at the United Way Suncoast Resource Center at Booker Middle where we have, in partnership with Career Edge Funders Collaborative, successfully launched tuition-free Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) classes. The class and certification earned help motivate participants to increase their lifetime earning potential by building their job skills in careers desperately needed in our community.
