Hundreds Gather for Fun and Philanthropy

More than 500 of the area’s leading corporate and individual philanthropists joined us for our 14th Annual Art of Giving to help raise funds and awareness for our Youth Education Initiatives. By working to bring together the resources and expertise to help put children on the path to graduation by providing support in and out of school, they can overcome barriers, catch up to their less-challenged peers and graduate ready for college and career. Over the past five years, United Way Suncoast has invested more than $30 million in youth education.

Guests enjoyed delicious food and beverages; incredible live music from America’s premier special event dance band, Blonde Ambition; and an inspiring and empowering message from keynote speaker, news anchor and creator of What Would You Do, John Quiñones. The live and silent auctions were filled with unique gifts, trips and purses and not only generated excitement in the room but also helped to raise funds to support our youth education initiatives throughout our community. Select sponsors and guests had access to the exclusive Tasting Room that featured 10 food and beverage vendors from around the area sampling their favorite dishes and drinks.

While the evening was filled with entertainment and fun, there was also inspiration in the stories that were heard and the solutions that are made possible through everyone’s support. We heard about Maria, a teen that came to the United States the day before her freshman year of high school speaking very little English. She joined one of our funded youth education programs led by the Alliance for Public Schools and now is set to graduate high school this year and begin college in the fall. We also heard about the incredible work happening at our neighborhood resource centers and through our newest program, Mission United.  All made possible by the support of our community.
