Financial Sustainability Initiative Needs Volunteer Financial Mentors

United Way Suncoast’s Financial Sustainability Initiative (FSI) program needs mentors to help our families achieve their financial stability goals. A partnership of Gulf Coast Community Foundation and United Way Suncoast, the FSI program helps families who have experienced or have been on the brink of homelessness by building the knowledge, confidence, habits, and assets they need to attain long-term financial stability.

Students meet one-on-one with their volunteer mentor each week to go over budgeting, basic finances and goal-setting, eventually working towards employment, financial and educational goals. Mentors will have a maximum of two students, allowing them to develop relationships that build trust, accountability and motivation. Mentors work with students through the MyBudgetCoach platform and will receive the training and materials they need for a successful partnership. The support students receive from their mentors is critical to their success in the program.
